EMDR Therapy

EMDR can help you let go of traumatic memories, difficult feelings, and anxieties and fear. It’s available online and in-person in Cambridge.

Simple, effective help for trauma

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. The aim is to process distressing memories sufficiently that you can leave the past behind. It has helped many people and is effective for post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and a range of other difficulties such as low mood and depression, worry, and anxiety. It is just as effective online as face-to-face.

I often use EMDR in combination with other approaches such as cognitive analytic therapy.

EMDR works

EMDR allows us to recall distressing memories in a way that isn’t overwhelming and process them until they are no longer so full of feelings and bodily sensations.

We try to notice both any thoughts or images, and any sensory details like emotions and bodily sensations.

EMDR has helped a great number of people to put the past to rest, so bad memories don't keep hurting you in your everyday life. It's not about digging up the past for no reason; it's about making your here and now better.

Who can EMDR help?

EMDR can help if:

You’ve experienced trauma including PTSD and CPTSD

You’ve had issues with your family

You’ve not benefited from other therapies like CBT

Memories from the past keep bothering you, or you can’t let something go

You experience strong fears or panic attacks, e.g. in relation to public speaking, driving, the dentist, or being out of the house

You have unexplained distress or anxiety that you can’t link to any event
